The World of Orbis

Hytale's universe, called Orbis, consists of several zones with distinctive biomes, creatures and unique settings. So far, four main zones have been confirmed for early access.

A region of lush forests and green hills, ideal as a starting area.

  • Environment: Green forests, villages, hills
  • Peaceful inhabitants: Kweebecs (humanoid plant beings), cows
  • Hostile creatures: Trorks (trolls/orcs)
  • Resources: Abundant wood, vegetation, surface caves

A vast desert filled with ancient ruins. The environment is arid and challenging.

A snowy, mountainous region battered by constant blizzards.

  • Environment: Snow, mountains, ice caves, frozen lakes
  • Creatures: Yetis and other cold-adapted life forms
  • Challenges: Extreme cold (possible temperature mechanic)
  • Exploration: Hidden structures beneath the snow

The most dangerous known zone, volcanic/underground type.

  • Environment: Lava rivers, luminous caverns, fungal flora
  • Creatures: Peculiar dinosaurs (magma-adapted reptiles)
  • Factions: Possibly Outlanders (corrupt humans)
  • Rewards: Rarer materials, deadlier enemies
๐ŸŽฒ Surprise zone: Developers have hinted at a possible additional zone yet to be revealed, which could arrive as a "second surprise launch".

Hytale's procedural generation creates spectacular moments and ensures every adventure is different:

  • Rivers that tunnel through mountains
  • Waterfalls that drop into hidden caverns
  • Hot springs in the middle of wasteland
  • Ruins with dungeons full of enemies and chests
  • Random events: ambushes, NPC encounters

Reputation System

It's been confirmed that players can gain reputation with certain factions by doing actions in their favor. For example:

  • Help the Kweebecs โ†’ Their villages welcome you
  • Attack the Kweebecs โ†’ They might become hostile

๐Ÿ‰ Creatures and Bosses

โš ๏ธ Incomplete bosses: Developers have admitted some "big" bosses are still incomplete or "broken" and might not be functional at early access. They could be activated in later updates.

Each zone features its own fauna, from peaceful critters to dangerous monsters:

  • Minor hostiles: Skeletons, Trorks, biome creatures
  • Large beasts: Giant trolls, yetis, dinosaurs
  • Bosses/Minibosses: Powerful enemies guarding the best loot
