Character and Progression
In Hytale, the player embodies an Avatar, a highly customizable character that represents both your hero in the fantasy story and your online identity.
🎨 Avatar Customization
Hytale's character editor is very comprehensive. You can create a unique avatar with:
🎭 No predefined classes: Customization is free, the game encourages mixing styles to create a unique avatar. You're not restricted to archetypes like "mage" or "warrior" in your appearance.
Customization options
- Face: Multiple face options and expressions
- Hairstyle: Various hair styles and colors
- Fantasy features: Horns, elven ears, fangs
- Clothing: From modern clothes to medieval armor
- Accessories: Capes, garments and decorative elements
❤️ Survival System
⚠️ No traditional magic: There won't be a "cast spells" system in early access, but there will be magical items like totems and wands with special powers that consume mana.
As a survival game, the character will need to manage several vital resources:
Health (Red Bar)
- Starts at 100 points
- Regenerates slowly over time
- Can be restored faster with healing potions
- Eating helps regenerate health
Hunger
- Bar indicating satiation level
- Affects health regeneration
- Filled by eating food
- Important to avoid starving
Mana (Blue Bar)
- Consumed when using magical weapons
- If it drops below half, you can't use magical weaponry
- Regenerates slowly over time
- Can be replenished with mana potions
📈 Progression System
Hytale has a unique approach to progression:
🚫 No character levels: Don't expect to level up to improve stats like strength or stamina. Progression is tied to your gear, recipes and world achievements.
